Learn how to add a map created in MapGeo Studio to your MapGeo Viewer

Last updated: March 18, 2020

Prerequisites:

  • Access to MapGeo Studio and the full MapGeo Console

  • Completed visualization in MapGeo Studio

Once you have completed a visualization in MapGeo Studio, you can add it to your MapGeo Viewer:

  • In your MapGeo Studio visualization, click the Publish button in the upper right corner.

  • Copy the url in the CartoDB.js box

  • From the MapGeo Console Home Screen, select edit on your Dataset, select the Map Tab, then select the + button on the Layer Tab.

  • Enter the name of the layer. We recommend that layer names in MapGeo match the name of the visualization in MapGeo Studio.

  • Select ‘CARTO’ from the Type dropdown

  • Paste in the url from MapGeo Studio

  • Click Submit

Your visualization can now be added to a Theme or Basemap for use on your MapGeo site.

Helpful Hints:

  • Your visualization can be added to multiple Basemaps or Themes.

  • Several visualizations can be added together to make a single Theme on your site.

  • Your MapGeo Studio legend will appear in the MapGeo Viewer by default. If you did not create a MapGeo Studio or your own legend image, no image will appear in the MapGeo Viewer.

  • You can create your own legend images in an image editing app. You will need to create a .png image and provide a public url for the image.

  • You can add attribution, copyright or other descriptive information in the Attribution box. This will appear under the legend when viewed in MapGeo.
