Hi Rebecca,This Quarter's MapGeo Community Spotlight |
Nashua’s colorful skyline features many gold and copper features on top of brick buildings. |
Nashua, New Hampshire, the latest municipality to switch to MapGeo, perfectly illustrates a community in a constant state of evolution. Nashua’s ongoing transformation was recently spotlighted by MRI Software’s Move-In Magnet Index, which recently crowned Nashua "the number one best city to move to in the country," by scoring highest in safety, boasting a strong job market with roughly 0.73 jobs per resident, and maintaining a solid cost of living.
Nashua has always been defined by adaptation and shifting borders. Nashua, which is derived from an Indigenous word meaning “land between two rivers,” has some fascinating history. This includes an 1842 political rift where the community actually split into two separate, rival towns named Nashua and Nashville (now a historic district of Nashua) over a bitter dispute about where to build city hall.
Today, Nashua uses the MapGeo platform to digitally map out and manage the next phases of the city’s evolution. By visualizing their municipal GIS data layers, including their foundational data layers along with environmental wetlands, political boundaries, schooling districts, and historical/cultural points of interest, Nashua is telling the story of their city. One of Nashua’s most unique themes configured on MapGeo is the location of all the murals and street art throughout the city, with a link to the artwork. |

Managing a municipality requires a modern toolkit. Nashua has made a true upgrade to an intuitive, easy-to-use platform that better represents the city. |
Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary |
![]() |
In 2026, the United States will mark a historic milestone, its 250th anniversary, also known as the Semiquincentennial, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This once-in-a-generation celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s journey, honor the people and places that shaped its story, and inspire future generations through a renewed appreciation of America’s heritage.
By the end of July, we will provide a complementary, ready-to-use map theme featuring data from the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places, displaying historic sites, structures/buildings, and objects recognized for their significance in American history and culture. This new theme will enable communities to explore the rich historical fabric of their area, highlighting everything from iconic landmarks to locally significant sites within MapGeo. Whether used for education, tourism, planning, or civic engagement, this free new layer offers a powerful new way to visualize and celebrate the places that tell America’s story. |
MapGeo Return on Investment (ROI) Reports |
Communities today are increasingly asked to do more with limited resources, and that’s where MapGeo’s bi-annual ROI reports play a critical role. These reports provide a clear, data-driven view into how residents, staff, and stakeholders have been engaging with your GIS over the past six months, transforming usage metrics into a compelling story of value. By quantifying benefits such as time savings for municipal staff and reduced inbound requests, the ROI report highlights how MapGeo serves as a centralized, self-service hub for information, freeing up staff to focus on higher-value tasks while improving service delivery for the public.
Beyond internal efficiency, ROI reporting is a powerful communication tool. By translating GIS activity into tangible outcomes like hours saved, improved productivity, and enhanced access to information, these reports help community leaders clearly articulate the return on their investment. ROI analyses are widely recognized as essential for demonstrating the financial and operational value of GIS programs and supporting budget decisions. They also provide the transparency needed to build trust with voters, showing how GIS directly benefits daily operations and public access to information. As municipalities look to secure ongoing support and funding, MapGeo’s ROI reports offer the evidence needed to make informed decisions, justify investment, and reinforce the essential role GIS plays in modern, efficient, and connected communities. |
